Hello and How to Create the Photo Collages, 10 Steps and Tips

Hello, and thank you for your comments about the collages.

Creating the Florence Oregon photo video with collages in Picasa 3 was easy and fun.

The finished collages were imported into Windows Movie Maker vers. 6, dragged to the Timeline, and a narrative voice-over was added there.

If you have a large number of photos, such as 50, a slideshow would take a long time. But with collages over 50 photos are seen in one minute.

If the slideshow is too long people may lose interest and click to move on. There are so many beautiful photos of scenes on the internet. It's hard to make your own slideshow or photos stand out from the crowd.

For me, the biggest plus is that making the collages is fun.

10 Steps and Tips

1 - Choose. Click on a photo in Picasa to choose it

2 - Hold Photo. Click the "Hold" button to keep it in the Photo Tray on the lower left of the Picasa Page

3 - Choose some more photos the same way

4 - Click Collage. Click the "Collage" button at the bottom of Picasa, near the middle

5 - A collage will pop up on the page

6 - Picasa will automatically create a first collage, and you can then choose more collage editing

6 - Edit Collage. After the collage has popped up, you'll see Editing choices for collages on the left of the Picasa page

7 - You can try "Picture Pile," "Grid," and so on

8 - Grid Lines. You can choose to click a slider to create grid lines and choose a color for them

9 - Background. You can also choose to use a color for a background or another photo, and to use white borders or no borders. Drag Photos. In the "Picture Pile" when you click on a photo it has handles so you can drag it, rotate it, and enlarge it.

10. Create Collage Button. When you're done click the Create Collage button. You can always go back and edit the collage again.

To enhance the colors in the photos and lighten the ones that were too dark I edited them. Choose the "Saturation" effect to make the colors stronger. You can also drag sliders to add more light, more highlights, make the colors cooler or warmer and so on.

It didn't take expensive equipment to make the photo collages. I used a 2 year old digital camera that I had bought on sale. Having fun with multimedia can be done on a budget.

Good luck and enjoy.
